Founded in 1898 under the name of Ahavat Ahim and was shortly afterwards named Mishne Torah -Gemilut Hasadim .
From 1914 on the association supported orphans and children from needy families by serving them lunch at school .
A decade later this developed into a much larger scope and Mishne Tora volunteers were responsible for preparing and serving lunch in all the Jewish Schools in Istanbul. .
In the years succeeding WWII the association was not very active .
In the 1980s the MT Women Volunteers Committee was formed and this immediately brought in new energy, vision and the possibility of once more extending support to disadvantaged children in the jewish community .
In the ensuing years the association extended not only financial, medical or food support to children but also started to extend psychological assistance .
The name of the association was finally changed into Öğrencilere Yardım Derneği – Association to Assist the Students .
During the time of its centenary this organization run by an incredibly dedicated group of volunteers, was extending scholarship assistance to disadvantaged students of all ages in the jewish community and with this support was able to change their lives
